It’s been a while since our last e-news and the reason for that is probably due to the fact that we have had so much non-fishing related things going on. I’ve recently moved into a new place and the majority of mine and Graeme’s time has been spent on renovating the property. We apologise for the delay in content, but as usual, the YouTube videos are still being churned out! In fact we still have many more videos in the pipeline for you.
Since the previous e-news there hasn’t been much in the way of actual fishing. However, we did attend the biggest fishing show in the UK, aptly named “The Big One“. For those that haven’t been before it’s a real eye-opener. A big show, with plenty of big deals on tackle and fishing equipment. We were lucky enough to have our very own stand this year and it was incredible to meet so many of our subscribers. The feedback we got from you guys was Totally Awesome! Many of you enjoyed our videos and want us to keep making more (which of course we will do!). If you haven’t been to The Big One, then check out there website here and come to the show next year, where no doubt it will be even BIGGER! Be sure to watch our video of our time at The Big One below:
So what’s the plan over the next few weeks I hear you asking? Well, on my part I will start to look at doing some Carp fishing (with a twist!). Spring can be a good time for carp fishing, especially towards the end of April when the warmer weather starts to settle. The fish will begin to feed more and often you will see the carp on the surface during the warmer days. A size 4 or 6 hook and a piece of bread flake could certainly hook you into a fish. But don’t ignore the margins! Those fishing larger waters and looking to catch fish further out, a pink pop up tipped with red maggots and a simple inline rig would be my preferred method. I am also hoping to get back on the beach fishing scene as it’s been far too long since I have been sea fishing! Although Graeme was telling me that again the end of April/beginning of May is a better time for the sea species. I am sure he will tell you more in his e-news update later this week.
I have been really enjoying the Bushcraft lately. The shelter that I have been building from natural resources and a few tarps is really coming along now. As is the whole Bushcraft Camp update series which I have been filming over on our ever growing Totally Awesome Outdoors YouTube Channel. Here’s the latest instalment of my Bushcraft Camp series:
One final update from me. I am leaving my job……
No, not the fishing job, but the teaching! I have had 5 great years teaching PE and Geography at a primary school in Hampshire. It’s a school I went to as a kid and have many happy memories there. However, with TAFishing growing as it has been, and the huge increase in popularity of TAOutdoors, I thought it time to take the risk and try and make YouTube my full time profession. It certainly is risky, but it’s something I want to do. With teaching taking up so much of my time, it has been a struggle balancing the two together, especially having to produce videos on a weekly basis. So with the extra time I will be able to give you guys more fishing and outdoor videos. Regular uploads will mean you guys can get more of your Totally Awesome Fishing fix! So July will be my last month of teaching and my first month of full time YouTube. If you would like to help support me along the way, then head on over to our Patreon page where you can help to donate to us and receive extra bonus perks such as monthly Q&A videos, early episode previews, Behind the Scenes footage and free prize giveaways.
Thank you for all of your support along the way guys! Another e-news from myself next week.
